My name is Jyoti Verma, and before diving into my interview experience with Agoda, here’s a quick background about me. I graduated with a B.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from NSIT and currently hold an SDE3 role at Walmart, with three years of experience in software development. Recently, I decided to explore new opportunities and applied for a Full Stack Software Engineer role at Agoda. Here’s how the journey unfolded
Application Process
I applied through Agoda’s careers portal and, to my surprise, received a call within a few days to schedule my first interview
Technical Interview Round 1: Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA)
The first round focused on DSA, where I tackled two coding problems:
Problem 1: A straightforward array question that tested my basic algorithm skills.
Problem 2: A medium-difficulty hash-map problem that required designing an efficient solution.
With solid preparation, I was able to solve both problems during the interview, and after about a week, I received an invitation to proceed to the second round.
Technical Interview Round 2: Platform Round – High-Level Design and Frontend
In the second round, the interviewer presented a high-level design (HLD) task. I was asked to design a system’s architecture and create an integrated frontend for backend API calls. This round was insightful, as it required both system design and an understanding of frontend-backend integration. Successfully demonstrating these skills gave me confidence as we moved into the next round.
Based on my performance in the first two technical round, they decided to skip the next technical round, advancing me directly to the final stage.
Managerial Round
The last round was with a senior manager and was more conversational. We discussed my experience, work style, and relocation preferences. We also briefly talked about offer expectations, and I had the opportunity to ask questions about the role and team structure. The conversation was smooth, and it felt like a good fit from both sides.
Offer and Next Steps
Shortly after the final round, I received an offer from Agoda for the role of SDE2, based in Gurgaon. The transition process started soon after, marking an exciting new chapter in my career.
Summary
The interview process at Agoda included four rounds: a DSA-focused technical round, a platform round covering high-level system design and frontend integration, and a final managerial discussion. Impressively, strong performance in any round could lead the recruiter to skip subsequent rounds. Each stage challenged a unique aspect of my abilities—from problem-solving and design thinking to collaboration and career aspirations. Overall, it was an extremely positive experience, and I’m excited about the prospect of joining and contributing to the Agoda team!
